I thought I would start this morning’s broadcast with mention of the article “Angels to women: do you know Brigitte Baumann and Stephanie Hanbury Brown?” by Olivier Jerphagnon for greenfrog.typepad. I found it most interesting, informative, and on topic for Pump Up The Presence listeners, because it discusses international Women Angel investors. Brigitte Baumann is founder of Go Beyond based in Geneva, Switzerland. It “enables novice investors to GET GOING and experienced investors to GO BEYOND”. She is also President of the Board of EBAN, “the European Trade Association for Business Angels, Seed Funds, and other Early Stage Market Players”. And who is Stephanie Hanbury Brown? She has been Managing Director of Golden Seeds since its inception in NYC in 2004. And what is “NewMe” an abbreviation of? New Media Entrepreneurship. It was conceived in 2010 with the creation of a conference in Washington DC that included top minority startups, business leaders, venture capital stakeholders, and key government officials from the SBA (Small Business Administration), FCC (Federal Communication Commission), and NTIA (National Telecommunications and Information Administration). newmeaccelerator.com looks for technology product-focused companies dealing with the consumer internet and/or mobile space, as well as cloud computing. However, even though NewMe isn’t particularly interested in digital publishing (or at least that’s what they say), it wouldn’t hurt to apply, just in case if you just might catch their attention!

It’s great for the entrepreneur looking to raise money using VC firms for the first time. You can pick it up at your local library, or you can purchase it on Amazon! You can buy either the hardcover starting at $28.42, or the Kindle ebook (which is my choice) for $27.47, and it’s auto-delivered wirelessly to you!
